I wonder if the guys who put this on SNL really know how close the farting technology they’re talking about is to being reality?

Back about 10 years ago, a company called “Digiscents” burned through about $20MM in about 15 months, trying to bring digital smell to consumers.   We were in the process of partnering with them to bring fart smells to the farts.com website at the time they went bankrupt.

And, a guy last year created “Tweet a Fart” by wiring his chair.  And, with all the iPhone and smart phone fart apps out there, perhaps this idea is not far off.

Farts should be shared, and, if you can’t be there to share it in person, why not tweet your farts?

These girls are really annoying, but it’s a good idea for a prank.  It reminds me of a bad Spice Girls video or something.  You can try this on your own if you want, but remember, fart pranks are ALWAYS better with real farts!

This is not the first time it has been reported that Jessica Simpson has farted in public.  Good for her!!!

Hey, we all fart, everybody knows they fart, everybody knows that everybody else farts…but, we’re all supposed to make believe farts don’t exist???

Just got an E-mail asking about this article on the Discovery Channel website about a fart machine that stores energy. 

The answer is “No, this is not the same Fart Machine that people use for practical jokes”…this is the one that’s supposed to save the planet.  The other one is to embarass your friends and co-workers.  The Fart Machine prank is a true classic, so the jury is still out on which is a more valuable invention to soceity.

This Fart Machine is NOT a prank!

Wouldn’t it be nice if it worked like this in the real world?  Imagine people fighting to take credit for a nice fart, rather than trying to hide and deny their farts?

I think the world would be a better place…less shame, more pride.  It’s true that we might lose some of the humor that comes with the daily fart mysteries we face, sneak attacks, and the like.  However, that would be more than offset by daily farting contests, participated in by millions, each trying to proudly claim “The Fart of The Day”.

As a follow-up to our recent Farts on a Plane post, a visitor E-mailed a link to this article about preventing farting when flying.  It looks like the article is published by the folks at Beano, but I can’t tell for sure.

Anyway, some of the “brilliant” advice provided:

• hold them in
• Fart before boarding
• go to the lav on the plane and fart in there

As you can see, much of their advice is pretty lame.  There are a couple of great nuggets in the article, however. 

My favorite is their suggestion to ask the flight attendant to be moved to an empty section of the plane because you have gas.  That’ll go over well.  Half the time I fly, I’m embarassed to ask for a blanket…now, I’m supposed to tell them that I’ve been crop dusting the great plains from a cruising altitude of 36,000 feet, and ask them to move me down to the cargo hold???  

The other pointer I love is when they suggest you simply apologize to the people sitting in your “fart radius”.  Another strategic home run!   Maybe they could just have the pilot do an announcement from the cockpit:  “Down to the left, you can see the Grand Canyon…and, if you’re sitting in rows 24 through 32, look to your right at the douchebag in seat 28F…he just ripped 28 farts in the last 400 miles, and more are sure to come.  Please excuse him…”

If you fart on a plane, do NOT light a match to cover the smell!

Whatever you decide to do, don’t follow the lead of this farting genious, who decided to light a match to conceal her farts on a flight from DC to Dallas.  The plane had to make an emergency landing, and she’s now on American Airlines official “Shart list”.  She won’t be flying the friendly skies for a long time!
