When Dr. Rex Breefs invented the internet back in 1996, it was because he needed a vehicle with which to share information about the most important topic known to man: farts.

Before long, Rex was an internet celebrity. By 1999, Farts.com was one of the most popular websites in the world (definitely somewhere in the top 49%). Internet users (often called “surfers”, or, more commonly, AOL’ers) would use primitive tools to spread the word of this amazing website. “Tell a Friend” links, and spoken word were used quite often back then, along with “snail E-mail”. We didn’t have twitter, we didn’t have facebook or Digg (whatever the hell that is).

But, share the word they would, and with great enthusiasm. It was, after all, worth sharing. Rex’s fart advice was legendary. And, fans and aspiring professionals would submit their farts for Rex to review and rank. For an amateur farter winning “Squeek of the Week” honors was a ticket to fart super-stardom. Even being awarded “The Fart Of The Day” was an honor many would never top in their woeful lives.

Radio interviews, mentions in magazine articles, sacks of E-mail coming in from adoring fans….it all went to his head.

By 2002, Rex was burnt out on farts. He never thought it would happen, but it did.

Fast forward to 2009. Out of rehab, and back on the web, Rex is amazed to find that Web 2.0 is like a whole new world. Things move faster now…video has taken over (although RealPlayer is nowhere to be found…), viral now moves at the speed of light, and blog is no longer just a convenient way of saying “butt-log”. And, everywhere you turn, there’s a fart…even on our phones (boy, we really missed out on that one, huh)?

Well, that’s ok, because there’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is “The Old Sheriff, Dr. Rex Breefs, founder of Farts.com”. He’s here to reclaim what is rightfully his. Look out world, here comes Dr. Rex!
