If you haven't yet heard of the
Atkins Diet, and you live in the United States, you must have been
living under a rock for the last 5 years. Click here to learn more
In a nutshell, the Atkins Diet consists of limiting
the amount of carbohydrates you consume. The theory is that, by
controlling your intake of carbs, your body will start to burn fat as
energy, instead of relying on your intake of carbohydrates for energy.
Atkins Diet proponents, including Dr. Atkins
himself, have put forth the argument that this ultimately leads not only
to short-term weight loss, but to long-term better health.
Knowing people who have been on Atkins Diet for an
extended period of time, I can tell you that I believe it. I have
seen people take off the weight, lose the guts and the chins, and keep
the unwanted weight off for an extended period of time.
Having read Atkins Diet books, and eaten Atkins
recipes, I don't think the Atkins For Life program is bad at all.
There are lots of different tasty foods to eat, especially some of my
favorites, and probably yours too.
And, once you get past the first few weeks on The
Atkins Diet, you'll start to find that you can include more and more
carbohydrates into your daily food intake, as long as you stay below a
certain level, you'll be fine.
So, if you want to lose weight in the short term,
and be healthier in the long term, do yourself a favor, and check out
the Atkins Diet.
